Elliott Smith
Elliott was born and raised in Simpsonville, SC, a suburb of Greenville, where he attended Furman University receiving a degree in piano. From 2005-2010, he attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he received graduate degrees in piano and conducting. He is currently a doctoral student in conducting at the University of Notre Dame and will graduate in May of 2019. Elliott's research interest is continuo practices of the Baroque and Classical eras. Elliott’s thesis is a rhetorical and performance practice examination of Mozart’s C-minor Mass. His primary teachers include Barbara Stone, Ruby Morgan, and Elisabeth Pridonoff, piano and Elmer Thomas, Earl Rivers, Brett Scott, Annunziata Tomaro, and Carmen-Helena Téllez, conducting. Elliott currently resides in the Greenville area where he is finishing his thesis and serving on staff at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities.
